Happy b-days

We had fun today riding the Alaska Railroad for a short trip to Indian.

Followed by a trip to a wonderful Eagle River birthday party for one of George's friends.

We ended the day with birthday cake and McDonalds ice cream for Daddy.

The fish

The fish are still alive, well three of them at least.

Spring?

They say 'tis spring,
   but snow, water and bling
say it be wrong, and no bees.

Grandma Mooney's Wedding Dress

The dress wasn't saved in a way that makes it easy to restore. the overlay is paper-thin and shedding little fibers constantly. However, the little pink embroidered roases are in great condition as is the little flower print in the dress overlay. The dress is now champagne colored, but was probably white to begin with. I will be storing it in blue paper so hopefully, over time, we can get some of the original color back. The overlay is torn in a dozen places, and is shredding at the seams in for the sleeves, but it's original shape is still there so you can see how beautiful the dress was on her wedding day.

It might be hard to tell from the picture, but the Grandma was a size 1, or even a zero and was, of course pretty tall. The dress has a little bit of a train and a 100% silk underdress. The silk dress is in great condition. No tears, but a little bit of staining.

The back has the worst damage. A big tear near the top and a lot of little tears near the end of the trim. Some of the damage came from the way it was stored, but you can tell that she danced a lot in this dress and stepped on the train. I don't know anything about her wedding, but I can tell she had a great time at the event.
